Endovenous Laser Therapy (EVLT®)
EVLT® is a breakthrough, minimally-invasive method of treating varicose veins.
It takes less than an hour to eliminate varicose veins and you'll be back to everyday activities right away. With over 70,000 procedures performed to date, EVLT® has been proven a safe and effective alternative to painful surgery, and is rapidly becoming the gold standard in varicose vein treatment.
EVLT® uses targeted laser energy to close the vein shut by minimizing the vein walls, shrinking them, and closing the faulty vein so that the blood cannot flow through it. This eliminates the bulging of the vein at its source. After the treatment, the blood in the faulty veins is be diverted to the many normal veins in the leg.
The benefits of the procedure are relief from heaviness in the legs, in addition to an overall wellness of being. You will have the confidence to show off your legs, regardless of the weather or season.
Benefits Overview:
- It's fast: outpatient procedure that takes usually an hour or less
- Up to 98% success rate
- No general anaesthetic required and there are no surgical incisions
- Resume normal activities almost straight away and return to work within just a few days
- Very little discomfort or pain after the procedure
- Minimal bruising
Sclerotherapy
Pregnancy, prolonged standing and heredity are the primary causes of unsightly and often painful varicose and spider veins. As we age, previously unseen leg veins emerge and our existing veins become increasingly more noticeable. Most commonly, spider veins show up on the legs but can also appear on the face. However, there is a simple solution to this problem. It's a simple cosmetic procedure called Sclerotherapy!
Sclerotherapy was developed over 75 years ago. At present, it is one of the most prevalent treatments for spider and varicose veins. During treatment, a sclerosing agent is injected into the vein through a tiny needle. Upon injection, the solution replaces the blood in the vein generating irritation and ultimately corrosion to the vessel walls. The body then starts a natural healing process and the vein begins to decompose, shrink, and eventually disappear. Depending on the number of veins being treated in any given session, treatment can last anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes. Improvement will be gradual and noticeable. During a consultation, you will be advised as to the required number of treatments needed to achieve your desired results.
Laser Vein Treatments
In recent years, medical lasers have become significantly more advanced. Today, lasers are widely used for a broad range of non-invasive cosmetic treatments. Specifically, laser therapy is extremely safe and effective for treating leg veins, as well as for veins that are visible on the face, neck, chest, and just about anywhere else.
Non-invasive treatments like laser therapy have become increasingly popular because they involve very few side effects and patients resume regular activities immediately following treatment.
Men, women, and children with light or dark skin can safely and effectively be treated. Patients using blood thinners or who are afflicted with a serious illness generally are not candidates for treatment. Patients with dark suntans or photosensitivity disorders, diabetes, bleeding disorders, or who are currently taking photosensitizing medications also may be restricted from candidacy.
The number of treatments necessary to resolve vein concerns and approach depends largely on the size of the veins to be treated and the body's ability to heal. During an initial consultation, patients receive an evaluation and are given an estimated number of required treatments needed to obtain optimal results.
